EBDVF 2024: STELAR Supporting This Year’s Big Data Forum
STELAR will participate in the upcoming European Big Data Value Forum (EBDVF) 2024, taking place from October 2-4, 2024, at the Crowne Plaza Budapest in Hungary.
This flagship event serves as a premier gathering for industry professionals, researchers, policymakers, and business developers from across Europe and beyond, all united in the mission to advance policy actions and foster innovation in the realms of data and artificial intelligence (AI).
What is EBDVF?
The European Big Data Value Forum is a significant platform designed to facilitate discussions and knowledge exchange regarding the evolving landscape of big data and AI. The forum will feature a series of sessions, workshops, and networking opportunities aimed at enhancing collaboration among stakeholders in the data ecosystem. This year’s theme, “Europe for Global Leadership in AI & Data,” emphasises the importance of Europe’s role in shaping the future of AI and data-driven technologies.
EBDVF provides a unique opportunity for participants to engage with cutting-edge research, discover the latest advancements in data management technologies, and explore strategies for leveraging AI to enhance various sectors, including smart agriculture and food safety. The event will also spotlight innovative projects and collaborations that exemplify the potential of data-driven solutions in addressing global challenges.
Looking Back: EBDVF 2023
As the STELAR project aims to design and develop a Knowledge Lake Management System (KLMS) that transforms raw data lakes into knowledge lakes, it aligns with the goals of the EBDVF. This event focuses on advancing data management practices and fostering innovation in AI, making it an ideal platform for discussing how to enable simple and intelligent data discovery, ensure AI readiness, and achieve semantic interoperability in smart agriculture and food safety applications.
STELAR’s involvement in the EBDVF is not new; we had a successful presence at the event last year as well. One of the highlights was the presentation by Manolis Koubarakis, a technology expert from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and a member of the STELAR project consortium. Prof. Koubarakis delivered a captivating presentation on the topic of “Knowledge Graphs for FAIR and AI-ready Data Lakes,” illustrating how knowledge graphs can facilitate the creation of Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR) data lakes. More about last year’s event can be read in our blog post: STELAR at EBDVF 2023: Intro to Knowledge Graphs for Sustainable AI Impact.
STELAR’s Role at EBDVF 2024
STELAR is proud to be a sponsor of this year’s EBDVF, joining esteemed projects like WATERVERSE EU, GREEN.DAT.AI, SEDIMARK, DataBri-X, and enRichMyData. We will be featured in a dedicated session titled “Leveraging Technologies for Data Management,” taking place on October 04, 10:15 – 11:45, in Room Gold. This session will showcase the latest AI-driven data tools designed to transform smart agriculture and enhance food safety practices. Dimitris Skoutas, the STELAR project coordinator from the Athena Research Center, will share valuable insights into our groundbreaking work.
