After last year’s meeting in Eindhoven, the STELAR consortium has once again gathered in person, this time in Athens. This reunion marks a significant milestone for the project, as the consortium is now entering its final year, with notable progress already achieved.
The first day of the meeting centred around the discussion of two pilots:
Athena Research Center, The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Agroknow, Bundeswehr University Munich, Eindhoven University of Technology, and VISTA GmbH presented preliminary results and detailed use cases for both pilots.
The lively discussions that followed revolved around how to ensure the quality of the generated data and Large Language Models (LLMs). By the end of the day, the consortium had mapped out the next steps for further refining these use cases, with a focus on integrating the tools into the planned Knowledge Lake Management System (KLMS).
KLMS will serve as a platform for publishing and discovering metadata about datasets in the agrifood sector, linking these datasets with data processing workflows for machine learning and AI applications.
At this stage, the requirements, key performance indicators (KPIs), and architecture have been finalised. The team is now concentrating on the next steps: workflow development, ontology summarisation, tool integration, and overall implementation.
Additionally, the day covered the consortium’s dissemination and communication progress, as well as a detailed discussion of the long-term sustainability plan for STELAR.
This meeting carries special significance, as it will be the last in-person gathering before the consortium meets again in the final month of the project. The consortium left Athens with clear action plans, and the progress achieved during this gathering sets the project firmly on track for its final stages.
Special thanks to the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, particularly Manolis Koubarakis and the AI Team, for hosting such a fruitful and engaging event.
